A warm, cozy dessert with tender cinnamon-spiced apples and a golden oat crumble topping—this apple crumble is the ultimate comfort treat!
Ingredients
For the Apple Filling:
-
1 medium apple, chopped
-
1 tbsp brown sugar
-
A pinch of cinnamon powder
-
1 tsp vanilla essence
For the Crumble Topping:
-
40g all-purpose flour (maida)
-
30g oats
-
2 tbsp brown sugar
-
2 tbsp cold butter, cubed
-
1 tbsp chopped nuts (optional)
Directions
Step 1: Prepare the Apple Filling
In a pan, cook the chopped apple with brown sugar, cinnamon powder, and vanilla essence over low heat. Stir gently until the apples are soft and caramelized. Set aside.
Step 2: Make the Crumble
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, oats, and brown sugar. Add the cold butter cubes and rub the mixture between your fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in chopped nuts if using.
Step 3: Assemble the Crumble
Take two ramekins or small baking dishes. Spoon the cooked apple mixture into the base of each, then top generously with the crumble mixture.
Step 4: Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and crisp. You can also use an air fryer for a quicker bake.
Step 5: Serve
Serve warm straight out of the ramekin, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream—or enjoy it as is. It’s comfort in a cup!
Tip: You can swap apples for pears, berries, or even peaches for a fruity twist on this classic dessert.
